A big jump in time to 1984 is our next stop and an airline that has become a British icon starts its operations to the USA.

A merger of two airlines was completed today in 2012.

LAN of Chile...

was merged with TAM of Brasil...

to form LATAM.

The end of of todays news is unfortunately also the end of an airline, in this case VLM of Belgium.
