This day in history...Jan 27

A fantastic five for you today although not for the airlines concerned!

We start on positives however with two aircraft making their maiden flights.

First of it's Convairs CV880 in 1959

Next it is Fairchild's modified F27 the FH227.

If you are interested in getting hold of a copy of my book 'Flying Firsts' detailing maiden flights of over 120 aircraft along with a brief history, then click on the image below or HERE for more information. To obtain a signed copy at a discount price of £12.50 + p&p, all you need to do is contact me directly through any channel or simply email me at martyn@aspphotography.net (you need to let me know who to sign it too!) and quote BLOG202127

Unfortunately there is now a run of airlines ceasing operations.

The first is Brazilian outfit VASP which went under in 2005.

Next is Spanair in 2012 which failed despite a last ditch attempt by Qatar.

Just a year later German regional OLT Express also failed.
